Harlan Lopez is the Founder/ Camp Director of Mammoth Running Camp.

Harlan began coaching Diablo Valley Track and Field Club in 2004 after graduation from Acalanes High School. While running for NAU, Harlan continued to coach DVTFC during his summer breaks. His love of the sport continued to expand and he desired to coach a larger variety of athletes, and by 2012 Coach Lopez began collegiate coaching at the University of Texas, Austin as a volunteer. He returned home to the Bay Area to coach at Holy Names University in 2013 and became the Head Coach for DVTFC, a role he still holds to this day. In March of 2018, Coach Lopez transitioned to St. Mary’s College of California where he took on the role of coaching the Men’s Track and Cross Country team.

With over 18 years of coaching experience, Coach Lopez is a well known member the running community in the Bay Area and has coached over a dozen athletes from their first practice all the way though their high school experiences.

Coach Lopez is USATF Level 2 certified.

Chandler Maciel will return in 2023 for his second year as a counselor with Mammoth Running Camp. 

As an athlete, Chandler competed for Central Valley Christian High School of Visalia, CA. From there, he ran for Fresno Pacific University where he earned All-PacWest in the 10,000m. Upon graduating with a BS in Exercise Physiology, he transferred to St. Mary's College of California and earned a MA in Kinesiology.

Chandler has diverse experience as a coach having coached youth runners with Diablo Valley Track and Field Club from 2021-2022, high school cross country and sprints at Central Valley Christian from 2018-2021, and beginning in fall of 2022 at the collegiate level for the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. He serves as a volunteer assistant coach with the men's cross country and track team at UCCS. Chandler also coaches independent athletes online and can be found on Instagram @student_of_running. 

Chandler's PRs on the track include 3:54.28 1500m, 8:25.20 3000m, 14:37.82 5000m, and 30:18.82 10,000m. As a post collegiate, he has continued to run competitively making his debut on the roads at Twin Cities Marathon in 2:29:57 to finish 10th overall.
